Education for Peace
The Institute of Emerging Leaders (TiEL)
Investing in education, developing emerging leaders, and creating opportunities for young people to build confident, capable and peaceful communities.
Education as a pathway to peace and opportunity
The Institute of Emerging Leaders (TiEL) is an education and leadership initiative of the Interfaith League Against Poverty (I-LAP).
TiEL works to create opportunities for young people to pursue education, develop knowledge and skills, strengthen their confidence and prepare themselves to contribute positively to their communities and wider society.
For I-LAP, education is an important pathway towards peace, dignity and social development. By investing in young people, the initiative seeks to help build a generation that is educated, capable and equipped to participate constructively in society.
Our Belief
Every young person deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and build a better future. Through education, mentoring and leadership development, TiEL works to open doors that can otherwise remain closed to students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Preparing the leaders of tomorrow
TiEL aims to equip young people with education, appropriate skills and opportunities so that they can participate confidently in nation building.
Education, skills and leadership
TiEL supports students at different stages of their educational journey while encouraging personal growth, discipline, leadership and active participation in community life.
Educational Support
Supporting students through school, higher and professional education, particularly where financial circumstances create barriers.
Leadership Development
Encouraging young people to develop the knowledge, confidence and responsibility required to become emerging leaders.
Life Skills
Providing opportunities for students to develop practical life skills alongside their academic education.
Career Opportunities
Helping young people identify educational and professional pathways and strengthen their confidence to pursue them.
Community Development
Connecting education with community development and encouraging students to contribute positively to wider society.
Equal Opportunity
Creating educational opportunities for students whose families may otherwise struggle to provide adequate educational support.
Building capability and confidence
TiEL places education at the centre of leadership, opportunity and participation in society.
